The MacBook Air only has USB-C. Before this, connecting it to the office monitor meant a dongle hanging off the side and a separate HDMI cable, and the dongle would drop the signal if you bumped it. This is one cable, USB-C on one end, HDMI on the other.

4K at 60Hz works on the TV in the living room. 1080p at 100Hz works on the HP monitor. No flicker, no wake-from-sleep problems, which the cheap one I had before could not manage.

Six feet is the right length for a desk. The braid has held up to being coiled in the laptop bag daily.

It carries video only, not power, so the laptop still needs its charger. If you want one cable for everything, that is the Baseus dock. For a monitor, this is simpler and cheaper.

This is the one we’d buy again.
