We had one of those double-layer mesh litter mats. It caught litter, and then you had to shake it out over the trash and litter went everywhere. This is one solid sheet of silicone with a bumpy surface. Litter falls off the paws, sits on the mat, and you fold the mat and pour it back into the box.

It is big enough that both litter boxes sit on it with room in front. The raised edge has caught a couple of accidents. Rinse it in the tub and it is new again.

Silicone does attract fur and dust, so it looks dirty faster than it is. A quick shake fixes it.

With this under the IRIS top-entry box, litter on the floor is basically gone.

This is the one we’d buy again.
