Breville wants around six dollars per filter and says change it every two months. That is a lot over the life of the machine. These fit the same holder in the Barista Express Impress and do the same job for a fraction of the cost.

I have run six of them so far, changing on Breville's schedule. Descaling frequency has stayed the same as with the branded ones, and the coffee tastes the same. That is the whole test.

They come in pairs in sealed bags, so the unused ones stay clean. Soak the new one for five minutes before you drop it in, like the manual says for the originals.

If you own a Breville and are still buying the brand name filters, this is an easy switch.
