We pay for it ourselves
Nothing on this site was sent to us. Every product was bought with our own money, the same way you would buy it, and most of it is still in the house doing its job. If it was not worth the money, we returned it and it does not appear here.
We use it for weeks before we write
A review is not an unboxing. We use the thing in normal life, on a school morning, on a work call, on a beach day, until we know how it behaves when nobody is paying attention. Then we write down what actually happened. When we have not used something long enough, the page says so and gets updated when we have.
We put the downside above the buy button
Every product has one. The tablecloth that slides on a round table, the shredder that jams past ten pages, the mouse pad that pills. Where we found one, it sits in a “Good to know” box before the button, along with who should skip it. If a caveat would stop us buying it, it is not on the site.
What the stars mean
Five means we would buy it again without thinking. Four means we like it and there is something you should know first. Three means it does the job and we would look at alternatives. We do not publish products we would rate lower than that.
Dates are real
Each review shows when it was last checked and whether the product is still in use. When something breaks, wears out, or gets replaced by something better, the review changes to say so. Prices come from Amazon and are refreshed automatically. When they go stale, the page tells you to check.
How the money works
If you buy through a link here, Amazon pays us a small commission. You pay the same price. The commission is the same whether we say a product is great or point out its flaws, so it has no reason to change what we write. The full disclosure is here.

We will. If a product we recommended let you down, or you know something we missed, tell us and we will update the review, including the date.
